Futures Round-up

NYMEX: Products to open higher, focus on expiration
NYMEX April crude oil is called to open 16 cts higher at $21.45/bbl Thursday.
April Brent is called to open 24 cts higher at $21.09/bbl. March heating oil is
called to open 61 pts higher at 56.00 cts/gal and March unleaded gasoline is
called to open 90 pts higher at 59.30 cts/gal.

IPE Brent Focus: IPE Brent crude finds renewed strength Thursday
At 1109 GMT, front-month April Brent stood at $21.19/bbl, up from Wednesday's
close at $20.85/bbl. Prices remained stable following Wednesday's move higher on
the back of bullish US DOE statistics. Prices drifted lower Wednesday having
reached a high $20.32/bbl, but futures remained firm in early business Thursday.

OPEC's Lukman, Rodriguez to head to Moscow Sunday
OPEC's two top officials are set to travel to Moscow Sunday to ask Russia to
maintain its oil export curbs through the second quarter alongside the
producers' cartel and four other independent producers, an OPEC spokesman said

German Cartel Office blocks E.ON takeover of Bergemann
Germany's cartel office has prohibited energy giant E.ON's takeover of gas
intermediary Bergemann, blocking the utility's goal of gaining ultimate control
of Germany's leading intermediary, the cartel office said Thursday.

Japan exhausts 65% of GSP polymer import quota: MoF
With just two months left in fiscal 2001 (Apr 1, 2001 to Mar 31, 2002), Japan as
of January has exhausted 65% of its annual import quota for polymers subject to
preferentially low tariffs under the WTO's Generalized System of Preferences
scheme, an official at the Ministry of Finance said Thursday.

IPE considering suspension of UK power baseload futures
The UK's International Petroleum Exchange is to consider suspending its UK
electricity baseload futures contract due to low volumes, it said Thursday.

Few technical agreements on Yucca Mt. repository require long-term testing, DOE
says
Only eight of the 293 technical agreements DOE has with NRC would require
long-term confirmatory tests at a repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada, DOE's

EEI: Streamline power plant permitting
Edison Electric Institute's Alliance of Energy Suppliers is now offering a

Enron, Williams, Montana Power partnership dealt extensively in swaps to build
fiber network

building the western segment of what would eventually grow into a nationwide
