HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 26, 2001--Researched by

American National Power Company (Houston), a wholly owned subsidiary
of International Power plc (LSE:IPR)(NYSE:IPR) (London), is in the
process of adding 550 mega-watt (MW) units number 5 and 6 at its
Midlothian II station in Midlothian, Texas, and a 275MW unit number 2
at Hays station in San Marcos, Texas, are all scheduled to come
on-line in the fourth quarter of 2001. Hays 570MW units number 3 and 4
are scheduled to follow in the first quarter of 2002.
Alstom Power (Midlothian, Va.) is the turn-key vendor/contractor
for both of these projects, which are utilizing Alstom's ABB GT24
natural gas-fired combustion turbine/generator sets in combined-cycle
configuration.
American National Power is a Private Energy Producer (PEP) that
currently has 1,587MW operating in Texas. This will bring the total
capacity to 2,962MW with another 4,000MW in development.

National Power (London). International Power is one of the world's
leading independent electric generating companies with 850MW (net) in
operation with 2,350MW (net) under construction and another 8,000MW in
