IPANM Legislative Report 1-24-02

Our legislative meeting in Roswell with the Southeast New Mexico legislators
revealed that the oil and gas industry should not see many issues affecting
it in the current session. The 2002 Legislative Session is the short 30-day
budget session. The legislature convened at noon on Tuesday, January 15. It
is scheduled to adjourn at noon, Thursday, February 14.

The New Mexico State Legislature meets for 30 calendar days in the
even-numbered years and for 60 days in the odd-numbered years. The 30-day or
"short session" is constitutionally restricted to fiscal matters, matters
raised by the Governor and bills passed in the previous session that were
vetoed by the Governor.

We are not aware of any significant oil and gas bills pending at this time.
