=09 =09 Dear Jason, Two large mergers are done deals. Valero Energy i= s buying rival Ultramar Diamond Shamrock for $4 billion in cash and the ass= umption of $2 billion in debt today. The acquisition creates the second-l= argest refiner of petroleum products in the U.S. Williams Energy, parent co= mpany of ENL, also completed a $2.8 billion deal to buy Denver-based Barre= tt Resources. The deal more than doubles Williams' natural gas reserves, = and now makes Williams a producer and distributor of natural gas. ENL's Washington Bureau Chief Jay Cranford= leaves for California early tomorrow. Jay is scheduled to cover the meet= ing between California Gov. Gray Davis and 12 energy companies.
